PULL-A-PART SPONSORS 12TH ANNUAL MADISON AVE SOAPBOX DERBY
On Saturday, October 21st, Pull-A-Part sponsored the 12th Annual Madison Avenue Soapbox Derby in Decatur, Georgia. This was the fifth time Pull-A-Part has sponsored the event since 2018, in our continuing effort to support and strengthen the communities we serve. The derby, held in a neighborhood eight miles from Pull-A-Part Atlanta South, raised $20,000 for Urban Recipe, to support their mission of creating food security for Atlanta families while affirming their dignity and strengthening the community. Additional funds were raised for other local non-profit organizations The Kyle Pease Foundation, Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta, Remerge, and Wylde Center. Over 70 racers, ranging in age from 5 to 55, took their homemade racecars to the quarter-mile track on a perfect autumn day. Drivers were also celebrated for their creativity, with awards given to "The Barbie Corvette" (Best Team Spirit), "Pikachu Prowler" (Best Craftsmanship), "The Hydra" (Most Creative), and the Taylor Swift-inspired "Swiftie" (Best Theme). Judges for the event included Jeremy Lewis of Urban Recipe, Capt. Gary Menard of City of Decatur Fire Rescue, and Amy Ray of The Indigo Girls. Pull-A-Part provided free frisbees, games and toys for the kids, as well as small tools and accessories for the parents. For more information about the annual race, visit https://www.madavederby.org.
