HOW TO REMOVE A COMPUTER FROM A FORD EXPLORER

2003 Ford Explorer

Pull Tip: Remove the cruise control module (two 10mm bolts) and place to the side before beginning computer removal.

  • 8mm Socket 8mm Socket
  • 10mm Socket 10mm Socket

Instructions

  • 1

    Remove three 10mm bolts holding PCM connectors in place

  • 2

    Remove two 11mm nuts under the hood holding PCM in place

  • 3

    Use 11mm ratchet wrench to open access panel

  • 4

    From inside passenger cabin, pull trim out to access bracket and computer

  • 5

    Remove 8mm bolt to release bracket and reposition wiring

  • 6

    Remove bracket to access computer

  • 7

    You should be able to remove by rocking back and forth and pulling it out
